BT unveils new consumer deals

28th March 2010.

BT has announced a range of new consumer offerings:

• Talk and Surf will set you back £7.49 for the first 3 months and then £14.49 every month thereafter, plus £11.54 line rental. Confused? Right. So for a normal monthly rate of £26.03 you'll get line rental, unlimited UK weekend calls, and 10GB of broadband at up to 20Meg speeds.

• Talk and Surf Plus is £9.99 for the first 3 months, and then £19.99 a month going forwards. Line rental remains at £11.54 and for this you'll get Unlimited UK Anytime calls and 10GB of 20Meg broadband.

• Talk and Surf Unlimited is £19.99 for the first 3 months, then rising to £27.99 a month. Line rental is the same £11.54 and you'll get Unlimited UK Anytime calls and unlimited usage of your 20Meg broadband.

So, once you ignore the headline grabbing first 3 months rate, these deals aren't that good. Many other providers will give you unlimited 20Meg (ADSL2+) broadband at a cheaper rate than this, and potentially with lower contention rates. So, other than the advertising campaign - there's not too much to get excited about here.
