Devolo introduces wireless powerline router

22nd February 2009.

Powerline networking is using the powerlines in your home or workplace instead of network cabling. Now Devolo, a company with a strong history in powerline networking has introduced a wireless powerline router, the dLAN 200 AV Wireless G. This seems a bit of a strange mix, if you're using powerlines for networking why do you need wireless? Well, Devolo clearly believes there are enough laptop users or those with areas that are unpowered that will want this product.

The router is wireless b & g but not n, hooks into your power using the HomePlug AV2.0 standard. WEP, WPA and WPA2 are all present and correct. It's a basic router though with no wireless n and no modem, and for a list price of £175 - looks a little expensive.
