Virgin launches 100meg broadband
3rd November 2010.
Virgin has announced it will be launching 100megabit broadband shortly. They are aiming to make the service available to over 50% of homes in the UK by mid 2012. The service will initially launch in December with a roll-out in Chelmsford, Farnborough and Heckmondwike in West Yorkshire.
The service will set you back £45 per month, or a discounted £35 per month if you get it as part of a (more expensive) tv or telephone bundle.
The most likely early adopter's are Virgin's customers who are already on their 50Mbps deal, which is a fairly small subset, so initially take up will probably be fairly small. However, we at BestRouter welcome any attempt to increase the UK's poor showing in the international broadband rankings, and contributes to our EU target of half of all homes having 100Mbps by 2020.
